Part One of the Symposium consists of two presentations:
Presentation 1: Unchaining a Digital Future (John Lowry LFAIQS CQS)
This presentation will explore how construction management is poised for transformation through business process automation, AI, blockchain, and IoT. These technologies promise significant productivity gains by reducing manual tasks through improving workflow efficiencies and enabling site staff to focus on building their capabilities rather than being bogged down by paperwork.
Key impacts include enhanced forecasting through analytics, streamlined processes, early detection of delays and cost overruns, fewer disputes, and improved inclusivity and investment. Ultimately, these changes aim to deliver higher quality, predictable outcomes for clients, but success depends on adapting contracts and management practices to fully leverage automation and emerging technologies.
Presentation 2: AI-Driven Strategies for Managing Disputes in the Construction Industry (Srinath Perera MAIQS)
This presentation will look at how the construction industry faces frequent disputes that impact cost, time, and quality, and how traditional litigation and ADR methods have limitations.
With the rise of digital data, AI-driven strategies (using machine learning, deep learning, and advanced NLP models like GPT and BERT) are being applied to predict disputes, identify root causes, and suggest resolution methods. These technologies enable proactive management through tools for contract analysis, early dispute detection, negotiation, and online resolution, offering a promising way to reduce project delays and costs while improving efficiency.
