Dr. Sarajul Fikri Mohamed is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Baharu, Johor Malaysia where he specializes in Construction Innovation, M&E Works Cost Management, Project Estimating and Knowledge Management in Construction. He obtained Bachelor in Quantity Surveying from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2000. In the year 2002, he completed his Master of Science in Construction Innovation and Management and PhD in Construction Management in 2006 from Department of Civil and Building Engineering, Loughborough University, United Kingdom. Prior to this, he worked as property and construction consultant at MDA Consulting UK. The examples of projects he was involved in are Stratford Western Relief Road (Warwickshire County Council), William Baker Building (University of De Montfort), Airfield Business Park Market Harborough (William Davis), and Sport Complex Building (Leicestershire County Council). He has more than 20 years working experiences in related field. Dr. Sarajul Fikri’s research interests are in the fields of whole life cycle costing, construction innovation, commercial management and knowledge management and intelligent system in construction. He has over 100 publications in these fields. Dr. Sarajul Fikri’s research has received support worth over RM 6 million from industry, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia), Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and a variety of national and international agencies. In addition, he has supervised 8 PhD students and advised numerous master’s students. He is is currently involved in cost consultancy works for various agencies such as Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (RM19 millions), UTMSPACE (RM 2.5 millions), IUIU Mbale Campus Masterplan Development in Uganda. He has won several awards for his research actvities. In 2018, Dr. Sarajul Fikri and his research team won Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) Innovation Award on the research on developing exciting next-generation digitalisation technologies to enhance the accuracy of quantification and cost management of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Works in green building project.

Nur Ima Zainol Abidin

Senior Manager of Business Division, Corporate & Business Sector, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Malaysia

Nur Ima Zainol Abidin is the Senior Manager of the Business Division, Corporate and Policy Sector, CIDB. Graduated from Putra University of Malaysia (UPM) with a Bachelor of Economics (Hons), majoring in Business Management.  She started her career with CIDB Malaysia as a Manager in 2002 and served as an Economist. 

Her experience in CIDB includes providing current construction economic information to the industry stakeholders in assisting policy formulation and upcoming construction demand for business strategic planning.  She is also creating a conducive construction industry environment by establishing construction sector development trends and publishing a series of construction economic reports in reviewing and appraising the performance of the construction sector.

Several construction sector information systems and portals were also jointly developed to provide up-to-date information to the industry. She is involved in promoting, stimulating and advise on the export of construction-related services such as contractors, consultant and supplier.

Muhammad Yusuf Bin Khalid

Construction Data Specialist at BCISM

Yusuf is a Construction Data Specialist from BCISM. He analyses cost of construction projects that can be used as a reference data to BCISM customer to create an estimated cost of new project for feasibility studies or cost benchmarking. He also researches on the market to discover trends of building price in construction industry. He’s a registered provisional quantity surveyor under BQSM and a graduate member of RISM.

Other than that, he’s the editor of BCISM Costbook series and advocates the use of centralised construction cost data and Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology in Malaysian industry to boost the productivity by providing talks and publish articles to industry players on the important of construction cost data and how it can help maximise the outcome.

Corporate Development Director of CYPE

Industrial Engineer by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) and MBA by the UNED. Corporate Development Director of CYPE.

He has been working since 2003 at CYPE, having been responsible for the product of CYPE's thermal study suite, including calculation of thermal loads and HVAC systems, justification of thermal regulations in Spain, France, Portugal and Morocco. He has also participated in projects related to the acoustic, energy and LCA calculation of buildings. In recent years he has been promoting, among other research project initiatives, the connection of thermal models with the BIM workflow.

He is currently working on the following research projects, all of them including a fundamental component of BIM.

Sr Lim Kok Sang is the Principal of Sang QS Consult. He is a Registered Consultant Quantity Surveyor with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM), a Member of the Society of Construction Law Malaysia, a Fellow Member of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), a Chartered Surveyor and Fellow Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, United Kingdom (RICS), a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), a Fellow Member of Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR), and a Panel Arbitrator and Adjudicator of Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC).

He has over 26 years’ experience working with building and civil engineering works in Malaysia, Ireland, and the UAE. He is the current treasurer of AQSA and has also served other professional bodies in various capacities including Vice President, Deputy Vice President, honorary treasurer, Education and Accreditation Board Deputy Chairman, Exam Board Secretary of RISM, Panel Assessor, technical committee, and subcommittee member.

Ken Creighton

Head of International at BCIS

Ken Creighton is the Head of International at BCIS, where he works to provide cost and carbon data to the international marketplace.  He is also the current Vice Chair of the ICMS Coalition, providing a consistent shared standard for cost and carbon reporting.

Ken was previously the Director of Standards at RICS, where he worked for over a decade.  Previously he was the Director of Content Services at the IFRS Foundation.  In this role Ken worked with countries adopting IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) as issued by the IASB (International Accounting Standards Board). Before joining the IFRS Foundation in 2005, Ken was a senior manager at Ernst & Young. During his tenure there, Ken led several international projects while based in its Washington DC, Madrid, and London offices. Previous to joining E&Y, Ken was an associate analyst at Prudential Securities' Washington research office and also a legislative correspondent in the United States Senate.

Ken holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA from the University of California at Berkeley. Originally from Seattle, Ken has lived in London with his family for over two decades.

Sr Leong Choong Peng

Leong Choong Peng has more than 50 years’ work experience as a quantity surveyor with track record of projects in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Bangladesh. He is based in Thailand for the last 34 years.

He is the Advisor to Mentabuild Limited (previously known as Arcadis Thailand), a construction consultancy based in Thailand. He was the Managing Director of both Davis Langdon & Seah (Thailand) Ltd. and LECE (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and an International Partner of Davis Langdon Seah International Group for 26 years and Director of Arcadis Thailand.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, UK (FRICS), a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FAIQS), a Certified Quantity Surveyor (CQS-AIQS), a Member of the Singapore Institute of Surveyors & Valuers (MSISV), a Member of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (MRISM), a Registered Consultant Quantity Surveyor of the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (CQS-BQSM), International Cost Engineers Council Accredited (ICECA), an Associate of the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators, UK (ACIArb) and was an Accredited Mediator of the Construction Industry Development Board, Malaysia (CIDB Malaysia).

He is currently a Councillor of Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) International Chapter Region 1 and was a Director of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (2018 – 2022), Founder and International Representative of the Association of Quantity Surveyors (AQST), Thailand and Vice President in the ASEAN Association of Quantity Surveyors (AQSA). He had previously served as Chairman for the RICS Thailand Association.

Sr Wan Ainon Zuraiha Khalid

Chairman of BCISM

Sr Wan Ainon is currently the Chairman of Building Cost Information Services Malaysia (BCISM) Sdn Bhd, wholly owned by RISM in collaboration with CIDB to operate the National Construction Cost Centre.

She graduated in quantity surveying from the University of Salford, UK, obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Arbitration from College of Estate Management, UK and the Certificate of Adjudication run by KLRCA/AIAC.

She is a QS practitioner with over 30 years of working experience.  She founded a consultancy practice named A I Konsult in 2000 with offices in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.  Her practice in Kuala Lumpur combines quantity surveying, architecture and interior design under one roof.

She is the secretary of Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS). She was the organizing chair of PAQS Congress Kuching 2019, and the advisor of PAQS Congress Kuala Lumpur 2023.

Sr Engad Ravana

Sr Engad founded ER Consult in 2001 and has been involved in various projects; residential, commercial, hotels, institutional, industrial, ID and infrastructure works.

Apart from the above, Engad has also been involved in due diligence and auditing works for financial institutions and MNCs as well claims and arbitration matters. In addition, Sr Engad has also been involved with developments in Cambodia, Maldives, India, Albania and Indonesia. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Sr Engad has helmed ER Consult to provide clients with the best possible professional attention and appropriate advice. Sr Engad is actively involved in all projects with assistance from respective key personnel to provide suitable services to the clients.

Sr Engad is also the Deputy Chairman (QS Division) of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia and a committee member of QS Examination Council and QS Acreditation Council under the purview of the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia. The Association of Consulting Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (ACQSM) at their recent AGM has elected Sr Engad as the Vice President for the term 2022/23. Sr Engad is currently one of the judges for Property Guru Malaysia for the property awards. Socially, he is involved with Rotary International where he was the Past President of Rotary Club of Central Damansara.

Julie Christie M. Dela Cruz

Julie is a Director at Arcadis Global Excellence Centre (GEC) Cost and Commercial team in Manila and has over 30 years of total experience in the construction industry. Leads the Cost and Commercial Management (C&CM) team in the Manila Global Excellence Centre (GEC) to deliver services to the ME, America, and Europe business. Responsible for working collaboratively across regions and GECs to bring the right knowledge, skills, and capability to deliver the best value outcomes for our clients and the ability to work across regions, time zone. My role is to constantly look at ways to streamline our business operations to improve profitability and efficiencies. This includes setting up a Cost and Commercial Management (C&CM) delivery team to focus on establishing, inducting, and training the C&CM delivery team whose aim is to provide cost effective and technically capable support to improve our regional C&CM service offering by consistently delivering service excellence on high profile and demanding projects.

Julie has extensive knowledge in all aspects of pre and post contract duties, both for buildings and infrastructure projects, which includes estimating, cost planning, tendering, preparation of Contracts using FIDIC and JCT Contracts, sound contract administration, valuation, change management up to finalization of accounts and providing advice on contractual claims for a wide variety of projects. She has a particular interest in and had worked on several local and international Claims resolution and Arbitration cases.

Julie is the Chair and Founder of Philippine Institute of Certified Quantity Surveyors (PICQS), the QS national association of the Philippines. Julie is also the Founder and Past Chair of the Philippine Institute of Built Environment (PIBE). A licensed Civil Engineer and a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Julie is the first Filipino Fellow worldwide of the RICS and the AIQS.
